Fiddleheads - Matted Print

$40.00

Fiddleheads

The heads of fiddles
uncurl from the warming earth.
Soon the summer ferns.

haiku by Michael W Prairie

Fiddleheads poking up from the leaf litter is a sure sign the spring has finally arrived in Vermont!

These are 8 × 10-inch giclée prints that are sized to match the original watercolor painting. They are double matted with a 6.5 × 8.25 window in an 11 × 14 mat set. The mat and foam-core backing are made from acid-free, archival materials, and are sized to fit a standard 11 × 14 frame. Great care and effort has been taken to match the colors of the final print to those of the original watercolor painting.

If you are new to the term “giclée’ (pronounced zhee-KLAY), it is a fine-art print of a high-resolution digital reproduction that is printed with an inkjet printer on high-quality, acid-free art paper using archival, pigment-based inks. Standard printing is done with dye-based inks that are likely to fade much faster than pigment-based inks. Standard inkjet printing also uses a limited set of three colors (cyan, magenta, and yellow) plus black, whereas a giclée printer uses from 10 to 12 colors to achieve a wider color range and smoother gradients, including multiple levels of black to achieve darker darks than are achievable using standard dye-based ink jet printing.
